QNS identified Cecilia Armesto as 83 and from Hollis. Police said responding officers found her unresponsive with injuries; EMS took her to Queens General Hospital in Jamaica, where she later died.

QNS placed the crash at Union Turnpike and 193rd Street in Fresh Meadows, near Cunningham Park. Its account said Armesto was crossing on the west side of the intersection.
The driver remained at the scene.
