Two Killed After Bronx Driver Swerved Near Flatbed Truck

Police described a late-night chain of impacts
The Daily News reported, citing police, that four people were traveling west in the far-right lane in a gray Mitsubishi Montero Sport near Rosedale Avenue in Parkchester around midnight when the driver came upon a black Freightliner utility flatbed truck idling by the right shoulder.
Police said the Montero driver swerved left, collided with a Lincoln MKX in the center lane, then moved back toward the right lane and collided with the idling flatbed truck. The official record lists two westbound SUVs and a parked tow truck or wrecker.
Two occupants died, and two others were hospitalized
The official record identifies the people killed as a 33-year-old woman who was driving and a 47-year-old male front-seat passenger. The Daily News identified the passenger as Bronx resident Stephen Williams and reported that he was trapped inside the SUV and died at the scene.
The Daily News reported that the driver was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she died. A teenage girl and a 32-year-old woman in the back seat were also taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and were in stable condition Saturday, police told the newspaper.
