QNS identified the vehicle as a gray 2018 Dodge Durango. The official record classifies it as a station wagon/SUV and records a left turn.

QNS reported that Yuitmay Szeto, 89, lived on 46th Street in Astoria and was walking toward her home, two blocks away.
QNS reported that she was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition and died there of her injuries.

The crash happened on 48th Street just south of Northern Boulevard in Long Island City. Patch reported the driver was leaving a shopping-center parking lot serving BJ's Wholesale Club and Burlington Coat Factory.
Streetsblog reported 87 crashes on the block between Northern Boulevard and the Long Island Rail Road yard from January 2019 through its May 2022 report, injuring 11 pedestrians, eight cyclists and 17 motorists.
The driver stayed as investigators continued.
