Driver Flees After Fatal Woodside Crosswalk Crash
A driver exiting the southbound BQE struck and killed a pedestrian in the marked crosswalk at Broadway and 69th Street in Woodside at 9:20 p.m. on June 2, 2022, then left the scene, according to police accounts reported by QNS.

QNS reported that an NYPD preliminary investigation found the driver traveling south on the BQE exit ramp toward Broadway when the driver struck a man crossing within the marked crosswalk. The driver continued south on 69th Street and left the scene; Streetsblog also reported that the driver fled on 69th Street.
The city crash record gives the collision time as 9:20 p.m. on June 2, 2022. QNS's first report said police responded to a 911 call around 9:30 p.m.
The pedestrian was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
The city crash record lists the pedestrian who died as a 49-year-old man. Streetsblog's June 3 report said police had not released his age at that point. QNS reported that officers found him unconscious and unresponsive with head and body trauma, and that EMS took him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash happened at Broadway and 69th Street in Woodside, at the southbound BQE exit ramp. Streetsblog described the junction as a place where highway entrance and exit ramps intersect residential streets.
Citing city statistics, Streetsblog reported 93 crashes at the intersection between 2018 and 2021, injuring one cyclist, five pedestrians and 25 motorists.
The investigation continued the next day.
QNS reported on June 3 that no arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing. A separate QNS report said police had not provided a description of the vehicle.
