The child died after being taken to the hospital.
News reports identified the scooter rider as Mario Rosario Sr., 24, and the child with him as his 4-year-old son. The boy suffered severe head injuries. The Daily News reported that he died at St. Barnabas Hospital at 10:15 p.m.; other reports also said he was taken there and died. Gothamist reported that Rosario Sr. suffered minor injuries.
The Daily News and Gothamist identified Toyota driver William Baez as 51; WABC reported his age as 52.
