Driver Fled After Fatal Broadway Crash in Kingsbridge

A driver going north in a pickup on Broadway at West 238th Street fatally hit 62-year-old pedestrian Edwin Rivera before leaving the scene, police said, and the official record cited driver inattention.

Rivera’s family described an artist with daily routines

Family friend Blanca Soto said Rivera visited his sister every day to eat and that his family had worked to help him enter the assisted living program. Soto told the paper Rivera had once been married and had three adult children.

Police were still seeking the driver days later

The Daily News reported on Jan. 4, 2023, that police had made no arrests as they worked to track down the driver.
