Police described the crossing and impact
Police told QNS that the driver had a green traffic signal while Paredes crossed in the marked crosswalk from the northwest corner toward the southwest corner against the pedestrian signal. The driver hit Paredes, knocking him to the roadway, where he struck his head, according to the police account.
Police responding to a 911 call found Paredes lying in the roadway with head trauma, QNS reported.
