Official person records list a 51-year-old male driver and a 65-year-old female pedestrian among the two people killed. The Post identified the man as the Honda driver. Press reports described the pedestrian as 60, rather than the 65 recorded by the city; the Post said she was crossing with the walk signal.
The official record counts five injured people. NY1 reported that a 49-year-old woman passenger in the Honda was hospitalized in critical condition. ABC7 said two men, aged 32 and 46, riding in Konoplyov's car suffered minor injuries, and that a 71-year-old driver in a third vehicle was hurt.
Reports describe the Honda's subtype differently.
The Post identified the Toyota as a 2015 Camry; NY1 also called it a Toyota Camry. The Post, NY1, and Brooklyn Paper identified the other moving car as a Honda HRV. Brooklyn Paper later called the second car a black hatchback, while 1010 WINS described it as a black SUV. The official record's station wagon/sport utility vehicle category does not settle that subtype difference.
Konoplyov was taken into custody and charged.
NY1 reported that Konoplyov remained at the scene and was taken into police custody. ABC7 and the Post reported two manslaughter counts and two aggravated-unlicensed-operation counts. Brooklyn Paper also reported two manslaughter counts but described another charge as unlicensed operation; NY1 described a second-degree manslaughter charge.
