Overnight on the Cross Bronx Expressway, an unlicensed BMW driver hit the rear of a slowing truck. The car was demolished. A 22-year-old passenger took the impact to his head and died there in the dark.

A westbound BMW sedan hit the rear of a slowing tractor-trailer on the Cross Bronx Expressway around 1:43 a.m. According to the police report, the BMW’s front end folded and a 22-year-old front-seat passenger died from head crush injuries. Police recorded unsafe speed and driver inexperience. The 19-year-old BMW driver was unlicensed and had minor head bleeding. The truck driver, operating a large tractor-trailer, was not reported injured.
