QNS reported that police investigators said Joshua Gutierrez was driving a black BMW SUV southbound on Jackson Avenue when he allegedly hit Younger, who was crossing west to east. The report said Gutierrez continued south and left the scene.
Officers found Younger unconscious and unresponsive with head and body trauma. QNS reported that EMS took him to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash happened near 50th Avenue.

QNS reported that more than a year after the crash, police arrested 20-year-old Joshua Gutierrez and charged him with criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, tampering with physical evidence, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the third degree. QNS said his arraignment was pending when it published its report.
