Driver Falls Asleep, Kills Teen Pedestrian
A driver on Rockaway Beach Boulevard fell asleep and drove onto the sidewalk, hitting a 19-year-old woman standing by Beach 108th Street. She died there, in the middle of a Saturday afternoon.

A 2021 Hyundai sedan was traveling west on Rockaway Beach Boulevard near Beach 108th Street when the driver left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk. According to the police report, the driver fell asleep. The sedan hit a 19-year-old woman who was standing off the roadway. She suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene. Police recorded “Fell Asleep” as the contributing factor.
