A 19-year-old moped rider hit the back of a parked dump truck on Vandervoort Avenue overnight in Brooklyn and died. His 25-year-old passenger was thrown and suffered severe head wounds in the dark street.

According to the police report, a 19-year-old moped rider going north on Vandervoort Avenue near Richardson Street hit the rear of a parked dump truck overnight. The rider was ejected and died from head injuries. A 25-year-old passenger riding on the back was also ejected and suffered severe head lacerations. Police recorded driver inattention or distraction as a contributing factor in the crash involving the parked truck, an oversized vehicle.
