SUV Driver Charged After Fatal Bronx Moped Chase
A 32-year-old moped driver was killed on the Cross Bronx service road on Aug. 21, 2023, and prosecutors later said SUV driver Brehisly Jimenez Gonzalez chased and rear-ended Kadeem Davis before he was thrown into a light pole.

The official crash record says one motorist, a 32-year-old male moped driver, was killed at 2:09 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2023, in a crash involving a moped and an SUV on the Cross Bronx service road.
Daily News reports citing police and prosecutors said Kadeem Davis and SUV driver Brehisly Jimenez Gonzalez argued before Davis rode off and Gonzalez pursued him. Prosecutors later alleged Gonzalez swerved and rear-ended Davis’s scooter at a high rate of speed; Davis was thrown into a light pole and taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.
The crash was reported on the Cross Bronx service road
The official record places the crash on Cross Bronx Service Road N at Olmstead Avenue. Daily News accounts, citing police and prosecutors, described the location as near Gleason Avenue on the service road in Parkchester or Unionport.
Kadeem Davis was remembered by friends
The Daily News identified the moped driver as Kadeem Davis, 32. A friend, Schuchanna Adlam, remembered him as a jokester, a generous person and “a great father who lived for his kids.”
Records and reports identify the moped and SUV
The official record lists a 2023 Jiajue moped traveling west and a 2004 Honda SUV traveling west. A Daily News report citing police described Davis’s ride as a gas-powered Jiajue moped and identified Gonzalez as driving a Honda Pilot.
Accounts changed on whether the SUV driver made contact
The Daily News first reported that police said the SUV driver hit the moped. The next day, the paper reported that police had determined Gonzalez did not hit it. Two days after the crash, the Daily News reported that prosecutors alleged Gonzalez rear-ended Davis during the chase and charged him with manslaughter, assault, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
The official crash record lists unsafe speed for both drivers and also lists aggressive driving or road rage for the SUV driver.
