SUV driver hits teen crossing Long Island Expressway
An 18-year-old boy tried to cross the Long Island Expressway in the dark. A Lexus SUV driver went straight and hit him head-on. He died there on the roadway, another kid lost to a highway built for cars, not bodies.
What We Know
An 18-year-old pedestrian was killed on the Long Island Expressway in Queens at about 3:20 a.m. when a woman driving a Lexus SUV eastbound went straight and hit him. According to the police report, the boy was crossing the expressway in the dark outside a crosswalk and without a signal. He suffered fatal head and internal injuries.
