On Nov. 13, 2023, shortly after 10:30 p.m., police said a driver in a 2021 Honda CR-V hit 46-year-old Mohammed Hossain as he crossed near Fort Hamilton Parkway and 37th Street in Borough Park. Police told reporters a second southbound driver may also have hit Hossain after he fell, and both drivers left the scene. The official record lists one pedestrian killed and two southbound SUVs involved. Press accounts said Hossain suffered severe head or traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police described two drivers leaving the scene

The crash was recorded at 10:37 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2023. Police told reporters that a driver in a 2021 Honda CR-V was traveling south on Fort Hamilton Parkway when the driver hit Mohammed Hossain as he crossed near 37th Street.

Police said a second southbound motorist may also have hit Hossain after he fell to the pavement. The Daily News reported that the second driver also did not stop; amNY reported that both drivers fled and had not been caught at the time of publication.

Mohammed Hossain died at the scene

The official record lists the person killed as a 46-year-old male pedestrian. News reports identified him as Mohammed Hossain of Borough Park.

Police told the Daily News that Hossain suffered a massive head injury and was about half a mile from home. amNY reported that EMS found him with severe traumatic injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Records and reports identify the first driver’s SUV

The official vehicle record lists a southbound 2021 Honda SUV going straight before the crash, and the Daily News identified the model as a Honda CR-V.

The record also lists a second southbound SUV, a 2015 Lincoln, going straight. Press accounts differed on that point: the Daily News said a second motorist may also have hit Hossain, while amNY reported that police had not identified the second driver’s vehicle.
