88-Year-Old Passenger Killed as Driver Tailgates Truck
On Atlantic Avenue, an 88-year-old woman riding up front in a Jeep SUV died after the driver followed too closely and slammed into a diesel truck. Daylight, clear weather, and still she never made it out of the front seat.

A Jeep SUV driver heading west on Atlantic Avenue near Clinton Avenue hit the rear of a diesel tractor truck on a clear Wednesday morning in Brooklyn. According to the police report, the front-seat passenger, an 88-year-old woman wearing a belt, was killed. Police recorded “Following Too Closely” and passenger distraction as contributing factors. The truck driver was also traveling west when the SUV driver hit the back of the truck.
