Passenger killed after driver fleeing police crashes in Inwood

A 22-year-old driver in a Lamborghini SUV fleeing police ran a red light and crashed in Inwood, killing passenger Tiana Rodriguez, police said.

Police described a failed stop before the fatal crash

The New York Post, citing police, reported that officers tried to pull over the 22-year-old driver in a Lamborghini SUV after he ran a red light shortly after 10 p.m. Instead, police said, he fled north on 10th Avenue.

Police said the driver later collided with a silver Hyundai Elantra whose 37-year-old driver was attempting to turn left onto West 213th Street. The official crash record lists the other vehicle as a sedan and records the SUV as going straight ahead before impact.

Tiana Rodriguez was killed in the front passenger seat

The official record identifies the person killed as a 21-year-old female passenger seated in the front passenger position. Police identified her to the New York Post as Tiana Rodriguez, 21, of the Bronx.

Police said the SUV driver was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition. The Hyundai driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition. The official record lists two motorists injured in addition to Rodriguez’s death.
