20-Year-Old Moped Rider Dies Hitting Turning Tanker
A 20-year-old moped rider hit the side of a turning tanker at Greenpoint and Kingsland. He was thrown off, his head hit the pavement, and he died there in the morning cold while the tanker’s driver rolled on.

A fatal crash at Greenpoint Avenue and Kingsland Avenue killed a 20-year-old moped rider on a December morning in Brooklyn. According to the police report, the rider went straight and hit the side of a westbound tanker truck whose driver was making a right turn. The rider was ejected and suffered fatal head injuries. Police recorded “Passing or Lane Usage Improper” as a contributing factor. Weather data shows below-freezing temperatures at the time of the collision.
