The official record and the later police account say the truck was traveling west; an earlier police account said it was traveling east.
The collision
At about 6:13 a.m. on December 28, 2023, Peter Seo was traveling east on Northern Boulevard and turning left at Parsons Boulevard when truck driver Kyle Schreiber allegedly struck him, according to a later police account. Officers found Seo unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway, and emergency medical workers pronounced him dead at the scene.

The collision happened at Northern Boulevard and Parsons Boulevard in Flushing. NYC Crash Mapper counted 97 crashes and 117 injuries at the intersection over the preceding decade, according to a December 2023 QNS report.
After Seo's death, Transportation Alternatives called for safer conditions for riders on this stretch of Northern Boulevard, pointing to its multiple lanes of through traffic.

Seo lived in Murray Hill, Queens. The city crash record and a later report about Schreiber's arrest give his age as 81; an earlier police account reported that he was 82.
Different accounts of the vehicles and direction
The city crash record identifies an e-bike and a flatbed truck. Early news reports described Seo's ride as a moped or electric scooter, while the later arrest report called it an e-bike. The news reports described the truck as a 2015 International tractor-trailer.
The crash record and the later arrest report describe the truck traveling west on Northern Boulevard. A December 29 report attributed to police described it traveling east, though that report also said the driver continued west after the collision.
A charge followed the hit-and-run investigation
About three months after the collision, police arrested Schreiber, 27, of Hauppauge, Long Island, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He pleaded not guilty at his Queens Supreme Court arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.
