Moped Rider Dies in Bronx; Sedan Driver Arrested
William Cruz, a 35-year-old rider, was killed in a Feb. 16, 2024 crash at Park Avenue and East 183rd Street in the Bronx, and police said the sedan driver left before officers later arrested Emilio Galvan.

According to the police report, a 35-year-old man riding a southbound e-bike hit the left side of a sedan at Park Avenue near East 183rd Street in the Bronx around 7:38 p.m. on February 16. The report states he was unlicensed and died from severe pelvis injuries. Police recorded “Traffic Control Disregarded” as a contributing factor in the collision, which occurred after dark on a below-freezing evening.

The city crash record says one person was killed at about 7:38 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2024, in a crash involving a motorized two-wheeler and a sedan at Park Avenue and East 183rd Street. Police told reporters that William Cruz, 35, was riding south on Park Avenue and crossing 183rd Street when he hit the driver's side of a black sedan whose driver was traveling east.

William Cruz died after reaching the hospital
Police said officers found Cruz conscious and alert after a 911 call. EMS took him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The New York Post identified Cruz as a Manhattan resident; amNY identified him as from Harlem.
