QNS reported that, according to charges, Perez drove a red Nissan Altima at high speed through three stop signs before crashing into a Honda Ridgeline pickup near 47th Street and 28th Avenue. QNS said he then lost control and crashed into two parked cars before driving away. News 12 reported that Perez continued driving after the collision with the pickup and then crashed into two empty parked cars.
QNS identified the parked cars as an Alfa Romeo SUV and a Nissan Sentra. The official record classifies the Alfa Romeo as a Station Wagon/Sport Utility Vehicle and the Nissan as a sedan.
Enriquez was a passenger in the Nissan sedan
QNS identified the passenger as Bridget Enriquez, 29, and described her as Perez's wife. News 12 also named Enriquez, gave her age as 29, and described her as a Brooklyn resident. The official record identifies the person killed as a 29-year-old woman seated in the sedan's front passenger seat.
QNS reported that Enriquez was gravely injured and later died. News 12 reported that she was hospitalized and later pronounced dead.
The reports spell the driver's first name differently: QNS calls him Rey Perez, while News 12 calls him Ray Perez. QNS describes him as from Brooklyn; News 12 says he was from Long Island.
