Jeep Driver Tailgates, Kills 81-Year-Old on BQE
A Jeep driver followed too closely on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and hit a 2000 Honda from behind. The 81-year-old Honda driver, belted in and driving straight, died at the wheel with a broken neck.
What We Know
According to the police report, a driver in a 2024 Jeep SUV hit the rear of a 2000 Honda SUV traveling westbound on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway just after midnight. Police recorded “Following Too Closely” for the Jeep driver. The 81-year-old Honda driver, who was belted and driving straight, died at the scene from a neck injury.
