Truck Driver Kills Pedestrian on 60th Street in Sunset Park

A driver in a box truck going west on 60th Street fatally hit 30-year-old Brian Irizarry near Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park at about 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2024, after a witness said a friend shoved him from the sidewalk during rough-housing.

A westbound driver hit a pedestrian on 60th Street

Witness Xochitl Mejia told the Daily News that Irizarry was drinking and rough-housing with a friend before the crash. Mejia said the friend playfully shoved Irizarry from the sidewalk just as the driver was coming, then tried to grab him and pull him back.
