What We Know

Prosecutors allege Malcolm Anglin followed Thomas McDade from a Belt Parkway dispute to a Breezy Point parking lot and drove into him. McDade, 55, died on November 16, 2024, from injuries the medical examiner attributed to the collision. A grand jury indicted Anglin on second-degree murder and other charges.

The dispute continued from the Belt Parkway to Breezy Point

According to indictment and court records described in the reporting, Anglin drove his gray Honda CR-V onto the grass to pass McDade's green Subaru SUV near Belt Parkway exit 11S, then stopped on the exit ramp. The men got out and exchanged heated words before returning to their vehicles. Anglin then followed McDade across the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge into Breezy Point.

The report says McDade stopped in the parking lot at about 5:08 p.m. and walked toward Anglin's vehicle; it does not establish the exact time of impact. Prosecutors allege Anglin reversed, shifted into drive and drove at McDade at high speed. The report says McDade was thrown into the air and landed on the back of his head, and that Anglin drove away.

The fatal collision was in a Breezy Point parking lot

The collision occurred in a parking lot at Beach 208th Street and Rockaway Point Boulevard in Breezy Point, Queens. The Belt Parkway was the site of the earlier dispute; the reported collision happened after the men crossed Jamaica Bay into Breezy Point.

McDade died from injuries sustained in the collision

Thomas McDade, 55, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and remained in a coma. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that he died on November 16, 2024, from blunt force trauma to his head sustained in the collision.

Anglin faced murder and other charges

Police recovered Anglin's vehicle at his home later that evening; the reporting says it had a cracked windshield and a dent on the hood. Anglin surrendered at the 100th Precinct in Rockaway Beach on June 19, 2024.

A Queens grand jury indicted Anglin on charges of second-degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident without reporting causing death, and criminal possession of a weapon. The April 16, 2025 report said he was arraigned on the indictment. Anglin had previously been indicted on attempted murder and related charges before McDade died.
