According to the police report, a 68-year-old man was crossing Forest Avenue at Raymond Place in a marked crosswalk when a northbound Mazda SUV driver making a left turn hit him with the center front of the vehicle. The pedestrian suffered a fatal head injury and died at the scene. Police recorded failure to yield right-of-way and driver inattention. The crash happened on a below-freezing Monday morning in Staten Island.
