Driver charged with murder after motorcyclist dies on Woodhaven Blvd

Prosecutors said Jorden Rosen pursued William McField, who was riding a motorcycle, after a minor collision on the Long Island Expressway. On Woodhaven Boulevard, prosecutors accused Rosen of hitting McField from behind and driving over him.
Patch reported that Rosen continued south until he hit another motorist operating a Mazda CX-5 in the center lane. During that second collision, flames broke out around the motorcycle being dragged beneath Rosen's BMW, prosecutors said.

William McField died at the scene
The official record lists the person killed as a 55-year-old male motorcycle driver. Patch identified him as William McField and reported that he was pronounced dead at the scene from severe body trauma.
The Daily News reported that the BMW driver was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in stable condition after the crash.
Reports differ on how the BMW was described
The official vehicle data lists a 2024 BMW with a sedan vehicle type, a 2023 KTM motorcycle and a 2023 Mazda sport utility vehicle. The Daily News described the BMW as a black SUV, and Patch also referred to Rosen's BMW as an SUV.
Police recorded the BMW's pre-crash movement as going straight ahead southbound, with failure to yield and following too closely entered for that driver in the official vehicle data.
Rosen was indicted on murder and weapon charges
Patch reported that Rosen, 42, was charged with murder and indicted on criminal-possession-of-a-weapon counts. Prosecutors said he faced up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted, and a judge ordered him to return to court on April 28.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said, "Our roadways are not the place to settle disputes."
