Passenger Dies After Bronx Dirt Bike Crash With Tanker Driver

A 22-year-old passenger, identified by news reports as Jaydin Arroyo, died after a 24-year-old operating a Razor dirt bike lost control in a crash involving a left-turning tanker driver in the Bronx, police said.

Jaydin Arroyo, 22, was riding as a passenger on a two-person Razor electric moped or dirt bike near Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard at about 7:03 a.m. on June 13, 2025. Police told the Daily News the 24-year-old operator was heading south when he lost control and slid into a Western Star oil tanker as the 31-year-old tanker driver was making a left turn off Southern Boulevard. Arroyo was taken to Lincoln Hospital and died there; the operator was hospitalized in stable condition, and the tanker driver was not hurt. Police said no charges had been filed as the investigation continued.

The crash was recorded at 7:03 a.m. on June 13, 2025, at Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard. The official record lists one person killed and one person injured, both as motorists.

Jaydin Arroyo was remembered by family
The Daily News identified the passenger who died as Jaydin Arroyo, 22, of Crotona Park East. News 12 reported that Arroyo had lived his whole life in the Vyse Avenue apartment building where relatives gathered around candles spelling out his name.
Ashley Rodriguez, identified by News 12 as Arroyo's adoptive sister, said, "Very lovable. I remember Jaydin being so little and everybody just gravitating towards Jaydin because Jaydin was like a magnet."
Sources describe the small vehicle differently
The official crash record lists the small vehicle as a Razor Electric MX650 moped with two occupants. News reports described it as an electric dirt bike, electric bike, or motorcycle; all accounts place Arroyo as the passenger.
The official record lists the other vehicle as a 2013 Western Star tanker. Police told the Daily News the tanker driver was not hurt.
Hospital care, investigation, and no charges reported
Medics took Arroyo to Lincoln Hospital, where he died, police told the Daily News. The dirt bike operator was taken to the same hospital in stable condition.
The Daily News reported that no charges had been filed and that police were still investigating. News 12 reported that Arroyo's family planned a balloon release before his burial the following week.
