In the police account reported by QNS, Silverman was sitting on his walker at the bus stop and tried to stand as the Q52 driver arrived. He lost his balance and stumbled into the driver's path.
QNS reported that officers found Silverman in the roadway. EMS took him to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, where he died a short time later.
The stop was in front of Hoffman Park.

Council Member Robert Holden said he would follow the investigation and review whether additional safety measures were needed at the intersection.
