The city recorded the collision at 12:08 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2025. Police found Lopez de Rodriguez in the roadway, and emergency workers took her to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the driver did not remain at the scene.

The collision happened where Bruckner Boulevard meets Leggett Avenue. Univision reported that residents considered the area dangerous for pedestrians because of heavy traffic toward the Hunts Point Terminal Market.
Lopez de Rodriguez was headed home from work.
Relatives described Dilmania Lopez de Rodriguez as a wife and mother who was returning from work. Univision reported that she had an 8-year-old daughter and lived less than a mile from the intersection. The city record and several reports give her age as 32; a later News 12 report gives it as 31.
Police continued investigating the hit-and-run.
The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad was investigating. ABC7 and Univision reported that no arrests had been made when they covered the case.
