BMW Driver Fled After Fatal Bronx Crash, Police Say
A BMW driver hit and killed Shariq Bryant as he crossed East 222nd Street in the Bronx, then ran from the wrecked sedan, police told local outlets.

According to the police report, a male driver in a 2025 BMW sedan traveled east on East 222nd Street near Boston Road just after 12:15 a.m. and hit a 27-year-old man walking outside an intersection. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries to his entire body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened overnight in below-freezing weather in the Bronx.
Police said the driver ran after the fatal impact

Police told the Daily News and the Post that Shariq Bryant was crossing East 222nd Street mid-block when the BMW driver hit him, continued toward Boston Road, hit a telephone pole, and fled on foot.
Shariq Bryant was taken to Jacobi Medical Center
Both news reports identified the pedestrian as Shariq Bryant, 27. Police told the outlets medics took him to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died from his injuries; the official record lists the person killed as a 27-year-old male pedestrian.
The Post quoted a GoFundMe page in which Bryant’s family described him as a warm, caring and deeply loving person. The Daily News reported that he lived in Williamsbridge, about half a mile from where he was killed.
Reports described the sedan as a BMW M8
The official record lists a 2025 BMW sedan with two occupants. The Daily News and the Post, citing police, described the sedan as a 2025 BMW M8 and said a 28-year-old man was in the front passenger seat.
The official record lists no injuries. Both articles reported that the passenger suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

Both outlets reported that police were still looking for the driver on Monday after the crash.
The Daily News reported that a memorial with teddy bears, flowers and candles had formed at the spot where Bryant was killed.
