Police accounts reported by Patch say a driver in a Chevrolet Tahoe was involved in a collision at West 112th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard that killed 13-year-old Kayvon Jones and injured a 14-year-old passenger.

Patch reported that NYPD investigators placed the collision at about 8:46 p.m. on June 18 at West 112th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard. ABC7 and the New York Post say the Tahoe driver turned left onto West 112th Street before a head-on collision with the teens' ride. Patch and the Daily News give a different account: they say the boys traveled west and the rider moved around a separate turning vehicle before entering the eastbound lane, where the Tahoe driver was traveling. Reports also differ on whether the teens rode a motor scooter or a Razor MX350 electric dirt bike. Kayvon's family had planned a water-park outing the next day to celebrate his recent 13th birthday, the Daily News reported.

Reports differ on the movements before the collision.
ABC7 and the New York Post report that the Tahoe driver turned left from Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard onto West 112th Street; they describe a head-on collision between the Tahoe and the motorized scooter carrying the boys.
Patch and the Daily News report a different sequence: the boys were traveling west, and the rider moved around a separate vehicle making a left turn before entering the eastbound lane as the Tahoe driver traveled east.
The crash was reported near Central Park and Kayvon's home.

Accounts describe the teens' ride differently. ABC7 calls it a motor scooter, and the New York Post says the type of motorized scooter was unclear. The Daily News and Patch identify a Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket electric dirt bike; 1010 WINS calls it an electric scooter and also names the Razor model.
Kayvon had a family celebration planned.
The Daily News reported that Kayvon had turned 13 on Tuesday and planned to celebrate with his family at a water park the day after the crash. Neighbor Charles Davis said Kayvon enjoyed riding and recalled, "He had a sweet personality." Classmates and friends gathered at a memorial outside Kayvon's apartment building.
Kayvon died after the collision, and the other teen was injured.
Patch reports that Kayvon suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital. Patch and the Daily News report that the 14-year-old passenger suffered a leg injury; Patch says he was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.
Patch reported that the Tahoe driver remained at the scene and was not injured. Patch said no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing; ABC7 reported that no charges had been filed.
