Police responded to a 911 call at 247th Street and South Conduit Avenue in Rosedale at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 27. The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that Shapiro Lecorps was driving a 2020 gray Honda Pilot east on South Conduit Avenue when he failed to navigate the roadway and hit a tree.

The NYPD identified the driver as Shapiro Lecorps, 52, a Richmond Hill native who lived in Malverne, Nassau County. Police said he suffered severe body trauma in the crash.
EMS took Lecorps to Jamaica Hospital
EMS responded and took Lecorps to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police said there had been no arrests and the Collision Investigation Squad investigation remained ongoing.
