Police described a chain-reaction crash at the intersection

According to police accounts reported by the Daily News, a 48-year-old man was driving a 2025 Toyota Highlander east on St. Marks Avenue when he hit a driver traveling north on Franklin Avenue in a 2026 Hyundai Palisade at about 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said the impact pushed the Hyundai onto the sidewalk, where a 67-year-old pedestrian was hit, and then into a parked, unoccupied 2006 Honda Odyssey.

A witness called for help before medics took the man to a hospital

Lakeysha Smith, who lives nearby, told the Daily News she came outside, saw the injured man, and called 911. She said a firefighter from her building gave CPR until an ambulance arrived.

Medics took the pedestrian to Kings County Hospital, where he died. Police said both drivers remained at the scene, were not hurt, and faced no immediate charges while the investigation continued.
