Police accounts reported by News 12 and the Daily News say Hannah, 35, was riding a 2017 Kawasaki dirt bike north on Malcolm X Boulevard at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 15 when he hit a dip in the pavement and was thrown onto the roadway.
The Daily News reported that police said Davis, 28, was behind Hannah and veered into the southbound lane to pass an MTA bus, striking him. A later Daily News account of video said Hannah tried to regain his feet before lying in the northbound lane, and that Davis struck him while moving back across the double yellow line after passing the bus.
Medics took Hannah to Kings County Hospital, where the Daily News reported he died. News 12 said he arrived in critical condition and later died.
Hannah was remembered for showing up for family.
Hannah worked for a fire safety inspection company and hoped to start his own security company. His younger brother, Troy Jackson, described him as a positive person and a loving father to his 9-year-old daughter. Tawana Brown, identified by the Daily News as his daughter's mother, said: "He helped everybody. You needed the help, he was there for you for anything."
The case moved from arraignment to further proceedings.
The Daily News reported that Davis was arrested at the scene, pleaded not guilty at his September arraignment, and was held on $100,000 bail. On Oct. 16, News 12 reported that a judge ordered him held on Rikers Island pending further proceedings.
News 12 reported that Davis faced manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and aggravated unlicensed operation charges. Citing sources, the outlet also reported that he was driving 42 mph in a 25 mph zone while passing the bus.
