How were these numbers calculated?

We used NYC Open Data’s Motor Vehicle Collisions datasets (Crashes, Persons, Vehicles) filtered to the Inwood neighborhood (NTA MN1203) for incidents between 2022-01-01 and 2025-09-15. We counted total crashes, people killed, and people injured, and reviewed police-listed contributing factors and locations. Data was accessed on 2025-09-15. You can start from the official datasets [here](https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Public-Safety/Motor-Vehicle-Collisions-Crashes/h9gi-nx95) and apply the same date and geography filters.

At Post and Academy, a southbound BMW SUV driver ran the signal and hit an eastbound Tesla. The 51-year-old Tesla driver took a head injury and concussion in the dark Inwood intersection.

A motorcyclist turned left from Broadway onto Isham and hit a 30-year-old woman crossing with the signal. Her lower arm fractured and twisted. Police recorded failure to yield and driver distraction.
According to the police report, a motorcyclist drove south on Broadway in Manhattan and turned left onto Isham Street, hitting a 30-year-old woman in the intersection as she crossed with the signal. She remained conscious but sustained a fracture, distortion and dislocation to her lower arm. Police recorded “Failure to Yield Right-of-Way” and “Driver Inattention/Distraction” as contributing factors in this afternoon crash.

On West 204th near Sherman, a driver going east hit an 84-year-old man who was crossing the street. The crash left him with facial injuries and bleeding on a cold November night.
According to the police report, a male driver in a 2000 Honda sedan traveling east on West 204th Street in Manhattan hit an 84-year-old man who was crossing near Sherman Avenue outside an intersection. Police documented facial injury, minor bleeding, and shock for the pedestrian. The report lists the driver as licensed and records the crash on a Thursday evening in the 34th Precinct.
