We used NYC Open Data’s Motor Vehicle Collisions datasets (Crashes, Persons, Vehicles). We filtered records to Police Precinct 5 and the period Jan 1, 2022–Sep 27, 2025, and tallied deaths, injuries, serious injuries, modes, hours, and top streets from those fields. A box‑truck driver going west on Broome hit a 44‑year‑old cyclist riding the same way and killed him. The SUV in the lane was just parked; the man on the bike paid the price.
A 44-year-old male cyclist was killed in a collision with a westbound box truck on Broome Street near Centre Street in Manhattan on a Thursday morning. According to the police report, both the truck and the cyclist were traveling west when they made contact, and the cyclist was ejected and suffered fatal head and internal injuries. A westbound SUV was parked and also sustained damage.

Two cyclists riding opposite ways on the Brooklyn Bridge hit head-on. A 36-year-old man suffered severe bleeding and upper-arm trauma; a 50-year-old woman also injured her arm. Evening commute, and the path still isn’t safe from itself.
According to the police report, a westbound bike rider and an eastbound bike rider were both traveling straight on the Brooklyn Bridge around 6 p.m. when they collided head-on. A 36-year-old man sustained severe bleeding and an upper-arm injury. A 50-year-old woman also suffered an upper-arm injury. The crash involved only the two bikes and happened in daylight evening conditions on the bridge’s arterial span.

A licensed SUV driver going straight on Canal hit a 23-year-old cyclist turning left and cut his head badly. Police recorded driver inattention and inexperience in the overnight crash.
According to the police report, a licensed man driving an SUV west on Canal Street hit a 23-year-old man riding a bike east and turning left onto Lafayette Street just after midnight. Two southbound Toyota drivers collided at Lafayette and Grand and knocked down a 67-year-old woman crossing the intersection. Her lower leg was left with severe lacerations while the licensed drivers stayed put in the afternoon cold.
According to the police report, two licensed male drivers in a Toyota sedan and a Toyota SUV, both heading south on Lafayette Street, collided near Grand Street on a Friday afternoon. The impact knocked down a 67-year-old woman who was crossing at the intersection, causing severe lacerations to her lower leg.
