   A hit-and-run driver in a Cadillac fatally hit a 28-year-old NYU Langone nurse as she crossed Third Avenue at 55th Street in Sunset Park.
   A driver in a Cadillac hit a 28-year-old woman in the crosswalk at 55th Street and Third Avenue in Sunset Park around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2026, according to police accounts reported by local news outlets. News12 reported that surveillance video showed the driver speeding through the intersection and continuing down Third Avenue without appearing to slow. EMS took the woman to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn with severe head and body trauma, and she died there. Hospital sources told News12 she was a nurse who had just finished an overnight shift at the same hospital. Police said the driver did not stay at the scene, and reports said no arrest had been made that day.

   Boro Park 24 reported that off-duty NYPD Officer Pena died after a motorcycle crash on the BQE near Atlantic Avenue.
   Boro Park 24 reported that an off-duty officer from the NYPD's 84th Precinct, identified as Officer Pena, was involved in a motorcycle crash around 8:40 a.m. on the BQE toward Boro Park, just past Atlantic Avenue. First responders found him unresponsive and not breathing, and he was rushed to a hospital, where he died. The site reported that dashcam video submitted to it showed the rider traveling at high speed on the shoulder seconds before the crash. NYPD Highway Patrol investigated as the highway was shut down and traffic backed up.

   Edwin Delgado, 53, was riding south on an e-bike near 16th Avenue and 49th Street in Borough Park a little before 4 PM; after a crash involving a cement-truck driver, he died at Maimonides.

Police told reporters Delgado was riding south while a 68-year-old man driving a 2021 Mack cement truck was also traveling south and hit him near 49th Street.    According to the police report, a 75-year-old driver in a Volvo XC90 SUV was going straight ahead on 12th Avenue in Brooklyn around 2:36 p.m. on June 7, 2026, when the driver hit a 2-year-old pedestrian. Police listed the child as unconscious, with crush injuries to the abdomen and pelvis. Other occupants were listed; the report does not describe their injuries.
