   A pickup-truck driver disregarded traffic control and hit two pedestrians in a marked crosswalk on Murray Street. A 1-year-old boy was killed; a 69-year-old woman was injured.
   According to the police report, the driver of a pickup truck was traveling north on Murray Street when the driver hit two pedestrians crossing in a marked crosswalk at 32nd Avenue. Police recorded traffic-control disregard and failure to yield right-of-way by the driver. The pedestrians were a 1-year-old boy, who was killed, and a 69-year-old woman, who was injured.

   GRAND CENTRAL PKWY
   A motorcycle rider and passenger were killed on the Grand Central Parkway. Two other drivers were injured in the multi-vehicle crash.
   According to the police report, a motorcycle, three SUVs and a van were involved in a collision on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens. The motorcycle rider and passenger, ages 23 and 24, were killed. Two other drivers, ages 28 and 39, were injured with neck complaints. Police recorded unsafe speed for the motorcycle.

   A 13-year-old moped passenger was killed on 162nd Street. Another 13-year-old moped rider was injured.
   According to the police report, the crash involved a moped carrying two people, a parked SUV and a transporter traveling straight ahead on 162nd Street near 46th Avenue. One 13-year-old moped passenger was killed; a 13-year-old moped rider was injured and reported pain or nausea. Other occupants were listed; the report does not describe their injuries.

   Carlos Astimbay, 50, a Jamaica livery driver and father of two, died before dawn on the westbound LIE in a crash involving his Toyota sedan and a tractor-trailer; official crash records cited slippery pavement.
   Carlos Astimbay, a 50-year-old Jamaica man and livery driver, was traveling west on the Long Island Expressway before dawn on Feb. 6, 2026. The official crash record lists slippery pavement for both drivers and records one motorist killed and one injured in a crash involving a 2014 Toyota sedan and a 2018 diesel tractor truck. QNS, citing police, reported that Astimbay hit the center median near Exit 22B and that a 52-year-old tractor-trailer driver then hit the Toyota, remained at the scene and was hospitalized. The Daily News and CBS reported that investigators were examining whether a Sanitation worker had pushed snow and ice from the shoulder into an active lane before the crash; a Sanitation supervisor was later suspended while the NYPD review continued.

   Xi Zheng, 48, a father of two, died after a pickup driver turned right and hit him while he bicycled near Sanford Avenue and 160th Street in Flushing just after 10 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2026.
   Xi Zheng, 48, died after a morning crash at Sanford Avenue and 160th Street in Flushing. The city crash record lists a male bicyclist killed, a pickup driver making a right turn, and the bicyclist traveling west. Police accounts reported that a 23-year-old driver in a 2015 Ford F-150 turned right from 160th Street onto Sanford Avenue as Zheng rode west on Sanford; he was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene. Months later, police arrested Quinn Daly and charged him with a misdemeanor failure-to-yield count. Zheng’s relatives told reporters he was an avid cyclist, was riding to work, and left behind two children; they said the charge was too light.
